This Privacy Policy explains what information Terneos ("we", "us", "the Platform") collects when you use it, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Terneos is developed and operated by an independent developer, reachable at info@terneos.com. If anything here is unclear, that's the fastest way to reach us.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Account information
If you create an account (sign up with email and password), we collect and store:
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| Email address | Sign-in, password resets, and account-related communication. |
| Password | Authenticated via our backend provider (Supabase); we never see or store your password in plain text - only a secure hash. |
| Username | Your public display name on the platform (visible to other players; can be changed once). |
| Country & region/state | Chosen at sign-up, used for the World browser and leaderboard filters (see 1.3). |
1.2 Guest use
You can use Terneos without creating an account. Guest sessions are still assigned a unique, anonymous player ID by our backend so your plot can be saved and synced during that session - but no email, password, or other personal information is collected while you're a guest. Choosing to sign up later links that same ID to a real account.
1.3 Platform & public profile data
To run the platform, we store your plot layout, buildings and their levels, resource balances (water, crops, energy, coins - all virtual currency with no real-world monetary value), trade listings, friends list, and account level/XP.
Some of this is visible to other players by design: your username, country and region, your plot/leaderboard stats, and any trade listings you create are shown on the "World" and leaderboard screens so other players can browse and trade with you. Your email address and password are never shown to other players.
1.4 Feedback you send us
If you use the in-platform Feedback form (Profile → Feedback), we store the category you selected, the message you wrote, your account ID, and the time it was sent. This is used only to review and act on your feedback, and to apply basic rate-limiting so the form can't be spammed.
1.5 Information we do not collect
Terneos does not request or access your location, camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or call/SMS data. The platform requests only two device permissions:
- Internet access - required to sync your plot with our servers.
- Vibration - used for haptic feedback on button taps; nothing is sent anywhere for this.
We do not use third-party advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking/attribution tools. We do not process real-money payments - there is no in-app purchase system in Terneos today.
1.6 Locally-stored settings
A small settings file (audio volume, graphics quality, tutorial progress) is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and let you sign in across devices.
- To run the core platform: saving your plot, calculating production, processing trades, and showing you and other players the World/leaderboard screens.
- To respond to feedback, bug reports, and support requests.
- To maintain the security and integrity of the platform (e.g. rate-limiting, abuse prevention).
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.
3. Where your data is stored
Terneos's backend (authentication and database) is hosted by Supabase, our infrastructure provider, on servers located in the European Union. Supabase acts as our data processor and only handles data on our instructions. You can read Supabase's own privacy documentation at supabase.com/privacy.
4. Your choices & rights
4.1 Access, correction, and deletion
You can change your username (once) and your password at any time from Profile → Account Settings inside the platform.
You can request deletion of your account from the same screen ("Request Account Deletion"). This immediately signs you out. If you log back in before the deletion is finalized, the request is automatically cancelled and your account is restored. Once finalized, your personal account data is permanently removed from our active systems, aside from anything we're legally required to retain (e.g. records needed to investigate fraud or abuse) or minimal backup data that ages out on its own retention schedule.
You can also email info@terneos.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, or to ask any question about how it's handled.
4.2 If you're in the EU/EEA or UK (GDPR)
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We rely on performance of a contract (running the platform you signed up for) and, where applicable, legitimate interest (keeping the service secure and working) as our legal bases for processing.
4.3 If you're a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law. You may request details of what personal information we hold about you, and request its deletion, using the contact details above.
5. Children's privacy
Terneos is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us at info@terneos.com and we will delete the account and associated data.
6. Data retention
We keep account and platform data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion, we remove your personal data as described in section 4.1. Feedback messages may be retained longer in de-identified form for product-improvement purposes.
7. Security
We rely on our backend provider's industry-standard security practices (encrypted connections, hashed passwords, row-level access controls) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Terneos evolves (for example, if we introduce new features). We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify players in-platform.
9. Contact us
